The clashes between residents and police have taken place in recent days when protesters protested against the demolitions of residence in the community. The situation resulted in police operations using moral effects and rubber bullets.

The blockade of metropolitan trains that cut the area motivated 3 interventions of the PM (Military Police) in the community on Tuesday (13.MAI.2025). The Moinho favela is located in a central area of ​​São Paulo, between railways.

CDHU reports that 180 families have already left the site after accepting housing care proposals offered by the state government. The company justifies the demolition of unoccupied properties as a measure to avoid new occupations in the area.

The impact of the suspension of the assignment of the land by the SPU on the unoccupied eviction operation is not yet defined. Removal actions continue even after the federal government’s decision.
