The federal deputy (-al) participated, last Sunday (11), a bingo held in the municipality of Rio Largo (in the Metropolitan Region of Maceió) by state deputy Gabi Gonçalves (PP) and former mayor of the municipality Gilberto Gonçalves.
Among the awards offered, as reported to the press were ten refrigerators, ten box beds, ten stoves, ten sofas, ten televisions, ten cell phones, ten wardrobes, $ 11,000 in cash and a Honda Bros Zero kilometer motorcycle. The event, called “Mother’s Love, Award Show”, was made in allusion to Mother’s Day.
“When politicians are with the people, it is possible to transform lives. It is always a joy to follow the actions of Gabi who is an active and full deputy. Enjoy this beautiful party we did to you and congratulations to all the Riolarguenses moms,” said the former president of the House of Representatives, according to the statement.
The report sought the deputies and the former mayor, through the advisors, and questioned them about how the party and the awards were funded, but they have not yet spoken.
Bingo exploitation has been considered illegal in Brazil since 1946, when Decree-Law No. 9,215 has banned gambling such as casinos and animal game throughout the national territory.
In advertisements for disclosure, the organizers did not mention payment for participation in bingo. Buses were provided to transport residents of other neighborhoods of the municipality.

The municipality of Rio Largo, 97 thousand inhabitants, is considered one of the strongest in the base combined with Lira in Alagoas, especially during the term of Gilberto Gonçalves – for there, even surpassing the two main cities of the state (and Arapiraca).
In 2022, the then mayor was arrested for five days on charges of disrupting PF investigation on diversion of federal funds.
Gilberto was succeeded in the city hall by Carlos, nephew of his wife, who even used the surname during the campaign. The two, however, broke up and even a letter of resignation, who denied being the author.
The mayor, Rogério Silva (PP), became mayor, but the court returned the position to Carlos, who started to use only the first name, and not anymore Gonçalves, in his social networks. He was not in bingo.
Carlos won the 2024, campaigning the image of the predecessor.
In the wake of the events, is a affiliation of Carlos à, from, historic rival of Lira. Gabi Gonçalves, on the other hand, is the daughter of Gilberto and maintains the alliance with the federal deputy.
