The Mato Grosso Civil Police was supported by the São Paulo Civil Police to launch, on Wednesday (14), an operation that arrested 13 suspects of participating in a criminal group that stole $ 300,000 of ATMs in Sorrisoin Mato Grosso.
According to the investigation by the Combating Organized Crime Management (GCCO) and the Smile Police Station, the suspects were responsible for breaking up and stealing ATMs from a Banco Bradesco self -service terminal in August last year.
According to the Mato Grosso Civil Police, “the money was quickly sprayed and deposited in different bank accounts” after the theft.
The agents served 13 arrest warrants, six preventive and seven temporary, 10 search and seizure warrants, and 15 property warrants in the cities of Mauá, Araraquara and the state capital.
The crime
The criminal organization articulated on August 22, 2024 the theft to ATMs. According to the Civil Police, two of the men arrived together, disguised with uniforms, and participated directly in the violation of the terminal that often had technical problems, needing recurrent maintenance.
“The pair went through employees of a company hired to maintain the boxes, entered the building and handled the electronic equipment,” reports the police.
A third subject appears in the crime scene observing and “covering the executors”.
After the checks and analyzes of camera and other materials, the investigation identified the authors, the vehicle used, the way the crime was planned and the division between those involved.
Police reported that the suspects respond to the inquiry, instituted by GCCO, qualified theft crimes, money laundering and criminal organization.
“With the due diligence it was possible to identify and individualize the participation of each investigated in qualified theft and its specific function within the organization,” concludes the police.
