In a press release, this was stated on Tuesday by the Vatican Dicaster for Communication, TASR reports based on AFP report and Vatican News.
“The Holy Father Lev XIV. He decided to maintain active presence on social networks through official papal accounts on X and Instagram,” the Vatican said in a statement.
His first post was published by the new Pope on Tuesday on Instagram, where the official account is named @pontifex – Pope Leo XIV. It contains his first public performance immediately elected 8 May and several photos from the first days of his pontificate.
On the X network, the Pope has an official @pontifex account, which has a total of 52 million followers. Posts are published in nine languages - English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Polish, Arabic and Latin.
