The articulation led by () to unite right and center-right governors around a single presidential candidacy in 2026 does not exclude the former president (), according to the emedebista himself.
Temer’s conversations with the governors (-RS), Ratinho Junior (PSD-PR), (-GO), (Novo-MG) and (Republicans-SP) irritated the pockets who advocate the maintenance of the former president’s name as a potential candidate, even if he is ineligible.
Temer reacts to criticism and says he did not expect this repercussion. He states that Bolsonaro “has electoral prestige” and that any candidate for the presidency of this field that opposes the former president would have difficulties.
“See the case of Tarcisio. He has been very wise. He is a scholarship, not unfair to Bolsonaro, but has established his own identity, without opposing Bolsonaro. Having Bolsonaro’s opposition can not,” says Temer.
The emedebista discusses with the five governors the elaboration of a program for the country that establishes the priorities of the center and the right. Although some politicians see in the articulation the label of a third way, Temer points out that the group does not dispense with Bolsonaro.
“If Bolsonaro can be a candidate, which does not seem easy for now, suddenly those governors linked to him directly or indirectly may present a program to him,” he says. “I don’t exclude anyone. I exclude who has no program.”
In recent weeks, Temer has met with Ratinho, Zema and Caiado to discuss the plan to make a program and had a telephone conversation with milk. The former president also talked to Tarcisio before boarding a flight to New York, where the two participate in events with other authorities.
In the US, the governor of São Paulo stated that and there is no right without Bolsonaro. “A year left and little to the election, I have to think about delivering results now,” he said.
He made the statement after Bolsonarists expressed discomfort with Temer’s articulations.
Pastor Silas Malafaia said that in talking to governors cited as possible candidates for the Planalto Palace, the emedebista had forgotten Bolsonaro and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro.
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) criticized Temer and pointed out that the former president “has political leadership, but has no electoral leadership.”
“It is important to remember that the precedent of Temer’s choices is very bad. Just remember that when he chose something alone, he chose for Alexandre de Moraes in the Supreme [Tribunal Federal]. The invitation is made for Temer to walk with us, “Flávio said in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.
Temer argues that the conversation about the creation of a center and right program, named by him of Brazil, must be done independently of the discussion about a candidacy.
“My theme is not a person. My theme is program, project for the country. No name against name, but program against program. Nothing prevents the former president offering a program for the country,” he says. “In the program, you have to think about the country, you don’t have to think about Bolsonaro.”
The emedebista classifies the irritation demonstrated by pockets regarding his proposal as a “sign of the times.” “You make a decent proposal, to put a project against project, and the people get angry. This is the climate that has settled in the country.”
While admitting that right -wing governors cannot give up the bonds with Bolsonaro, Temer says the concentrated dispute between Lula (PT) and Bolsonaro (PL) is not good for the country.
The emedebista says he was sought by Zema, Ratinho and Caiado to talk about it. And that he sought milk and Tarcisio himself so that they would not feel excluded.
“If five governors gathered and made a program for Brazil, 30 or 40 pages, they could then choose someone to be a candidate. Instead of voting on behalf, the voter could choose a program,” he says.
For Temer, the group must work for the unit. “If four names are candidates, the so -called center does not operate,” he says.
The former president says that the program he defends should bring guidelines to the economy, such as a spending ceiling and a new pension reform, which he considers indispensable.
The plan, according to him, would also undergo education and health, but should not go into issues of customs or even the amnesty for those involved in the coup plot, which should remain in charge of the Supreme Court (STF).
