Meeting with Ahmad al-Sharaa in Saudi Arabia is 1 day after the Republican announces suspension of sanctions against the country
The president of the United States (Republican Party) had a meeting with the Syrian representative, this Wednesday (14.MAI.2025), in Saudi Arabia. The bilateral meeting reinforces the legitimacy of Al-Sharaa, a rebel leader who assumed the presidency of the country with.
According to the American newspaper , who got information from a White House employee, the conversation lasted 33 minutes.

Although few details about the content of the meeting has been released, it should be a change in diplomatic relations. Al-Sharaa even commanded a branch of al-Qaeda before breaking with the jihadist group and seeking to moderate their image.
For months, the Trump government maintained distance from the former reel’s government, as there were uncertainties about Al-Sharaa’s intentions.
