Warner announced on Wednesday, 14, that its streaming service will be renamed HBO Max. A year ago, by the company’s strategy, the platform took the HBO out of the name and left only Max.
The news was announced during the presentation of Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront in New York.
The company states that it is a “evolution”, months after Max has reduced its offer to “deprise other genres that generate less engagement or acquisition,” including the recent removal of hundreds of Discovery reality shows that the name Max should cover.

“No consumer today says they want more content, but most consumers say they want better content,” Warner said.
So far, the company has not revealed a date for the service to be renamed HBO Max, but it is likely that an update of applications, websites and social networks will happen later this year.

Max Brasil’s profile even played on Twitter about the name exchange of the name: “Yes, I called me HBO Max again. And yes, I know you never stopped calling me that.”
