With outbreak of SRAG cases in Acre, pulmonologist talks about the importance of early diagnosis

Among the typical symptoms of these syndromes, Celia Rocha mentioned malaise, chest pain, chest pressure, headache (headache) and cough, which can be productive or not. In the most severe cases, patients may have progressive breathing difficulty and a drop in blood oxygen saturation, below 95%, indicating that blood is less oxygen and more carbon dioxide.

The expert stressed that people with comorbidities such as pulmonary emphysema, asthma, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension and heart problems are more likely to develop serious complications when facing these respiratory syndromes. In more severe situations, emergency medical care and hospitalization in Intensive Care Units (ICU) may be required.

Célia Rocha also drew attention to the risk of secondary infections, such as pneumonia, which can further aggravate the clinical picture, especially when caused by difficult treatment bacteria. She stressed that these infections can lead to death if not properly treated.

The doctor also highlighted the importance of observing symptoms in children, such as inappetence and dehydration. In addition, it made an appeal for the population to adopt a healthy and natural diet, avoiding industrialized foods such as fast food, chocolate, cheese and sour cream, which can make the condition worse and further compromise respiratory health.

In concluding, Celia Rocha emphasized the importance of seeking medical advice and avoiding self -medication, warning that ignoring symptoms or treating it inadequately may result in fatal complications. “Do not lose life for nonsense,” said the pulmonologist, offering support for those who need specialized help and care.
