Bad neighbors: These combinations don’t make goodies on the beds

On the flower bed it works similarly to human society – not everyone sits with everyone. Some plants benefit each other, protect against pests and improve their taste and growth. Others, on the other hand, suffocate, harm or drag nutrients like bicker neighbors. Those who want a healthy and rich harvest should avoid these inappropriate combinations.

At first glance, it may seem that the flower bed is just what we want to grow. But the garden is not just about choosing vegetables, but Io who comes out with whom. Some plants can not stand in a small space – they are hindered in growth, transmit pests or take nutrients to each other without being for the benefit. And that is why it is good to know which combination does not pay off in the garden.

“At first, no one wanted to grow anything, people disturbed the gardens, made rock gardens and used textiles, mulching and planted only ornamental plants. Today they want to be self -sufficient because they become more expensive, people return to gardening, bet onion, carrots, grow vegetables and fruits. Andrea Hufová, why the popularity of growing in humans is growing.

Never put onions and beans next to each other

A typical example of a bad neighborhood is onion and beans. Although both are among the favorite crops, they are not doing well. Onion vegetables release substances that disrupt the growth of legumes. Similarly, the combination of tomatoes and potatoes – although they look like the ideal two of one family, on the flowerbed they only transmit diseases, especially mold. And if we add the same type of nutrition, it is clear that they will compete unnecessarily.

Likewise, we should not plant close fennel and almost any other vegetables. Fennel is a loner on the flower bed – it looks strongly allelelopathic, which means that other plants are simply harmful. Peas and garlic are also inappropriate combination. This is also a conflict in the soil – garlic essential oils disrupt the growth of young shoots of peas and it then lags behind. Problems can also cause broccoli to strawberries, where plants take each other so many nutrients that the result is a weak crop on both sides.

Beware of the IZ of the Pests of the pests

Some combinations are unfortunate not only in terms of nutrition but also for pests. For example, carrots and dill can look like a logical duo, but thanks to the similarity they attract the same pests, especially drill and aphids. When they are together, the pests are more likely to overgrow and destroy both crops.

The gardening is actually such quiet diplomacy – plants communicate, affect, help or harm themselves. And while some couples like carrots with onions or tomatoes with basil form an ideal couple, others should be as far as possible. Those who know in the flower relationships get healthier plants, richer crops and less worries with pests and diseases. And it is definitely worth a little planning.
