BETS CPI studies include, in the final report of Senator Soraya Thronicke (Somos-MS), request for indictment of the digital influencer Virginia Fonseca and other influencers who disclose betting sites.
Senators see evidence of disrespect to the Consumer Protection Code, due to the lack of indication of publications as advertising pieces. In addition, they analyze the possibility of framing some influencers in crimes such as estelionate.
Despite the predisposition to include influencers in the final report, it is likely that the text is not even appreciated by the Commission. There is a movement of senators of the “Bets bench” to empty the CPI and the works have been marked by lack of quorum.

“It worries me about the lack of quorum on the day of the report of the report. Then Brazil will know who the ‘pizzaiolos’ are,” said the rapporteur on Wednesday (14).
The CPI gathered the testimony, this Wednesday, of digital influencer Rico Melquíades, winner of the 2021 edition of TV Record’s Farm program. He is investigated in Operation Over Over of the Alagoas Civil Police.
To the senators, he repeated Virginia Fonseca’s strategy, heard the day before, and said he only signs advertising contracts with a bookmaker because the legislation allows it.

“If I disclose today, it is because Congress approved. So I think this thought (about the impacts of Bets on society) should come from you too. I am doing my job. I do not force anyone to play,” said the influencer.
Rico Melquíades has 10 million followers. Virginia, 53 million. Both sought to move away from negative implications on gamblers saying they make recommendations on playing responsibly.
Rapporteur Soraya Thronicke commented on Virginia’s testimony on Wednesday by remembering that the whole society is responsible for the protection of children and adolescents.

After approved, final parliamentary committees reports are referred for police and prosecution investigations. The forecast is that the BETS CPI will come to an end on June 14.
