Doctor of three presidents and a vice president, among other authorities, Hoff became interested in the scientific area still in childhood. “My father had a clinical analysis laboratory and I liked to accompany him. I liked to look at the microscope, see small chemical reactions that were made in the lab.”
The idea of studying medicine seemed natural when the entrance exam arrived. He entered the University of Brasilia and completed his studies at the University of Miami, where he also resided at Jackson Memorial Hospital. During this period, oncology has taken his attention again.
“I had a previous interest because of family members who died of cancer. I noticed it was an area that still had a lot of space for learning, for research. It is an area where you help patients and family members a lot,” he says in one of his classes at CasaFolha.

He returned to Brazil for a brief period in the early 2000s, when he became director of the Center for Clinical Studies in Cancer at Albert Einstein Hospital.
In 2008, he won the competition for a full professor of clinical oncology at USP, a position he maintains to this day. Just before the academic attachment in 2006, Hoff took over the post of executive director of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital Oncology Center, where he remained until 2017.

“Today, I coordinate more than 500 doctors who work in the cancer area in 14 states and the Federal District and we had a very beautiful work of standardization, harmonization and establishment of clinical protocols,” he says at Casafolha.
