If we take the songs composed during the military dictatorship and associate them with the current situation, for many conservatives, the message could fall like a glove

Just listen to one of Chico Buarque’s songs, admittedly linked to the left, and see that it can be appropriate, on the opposite side

Conservatives are rescuing slogans from the old left. The story spins. And spins with taste. Have you read the messages and watched the videos released by the right class? They complain about the lack of, of oppression, of dark horizons. Sooner or later, the story repeats itself. What is today will be tomorrow, and tomorrow will eventually reflect, with astonishing resemblance, what is lived today. So much so that some more experienced politicians, when perceiving co -religionists with radical demands, often warns: Beware, you can receive what you are asking.

Change of opinion

That is, today’s claims against opponents can turn against you tomorrow. Those who are in the eye of the hurricane, defending either side of the political spectrum, often imagine that the situation in which they live today will be permanent, unchanging.

They do not realize that there is alternation in charge, that people change their opinion by conviction, thirst for power, disappointment or even convenience. There is no shortage of reasons to cross the line that separates one ideological position from the other. Reports in this regard are countless.

George Orwell, that Animal RevolutionIt shows that power corrupts, and reveals, through allegories, how ambition can betray the principles of a revolution with skillful manipulations. But it is not necessary to resort to fiction.

There are videos on YouTube that show concrete examples. Chico Anysio, Jorge Amado, Nelson Motta, just to name a few. Cases of people who, for different reasons, changed convictions that seemed unshakable. They show that in politics it is always good to leave a door open for future escapelas.

Leftists who have changed

It is worth observing the explanations of each one. Starting with Nelson Motta. Once, by participating in an interview program with Juca Kfouri, the presenter expected to hear a leftist speech. But he was surprised by the answer:

“I lived nine years in the United States, when I was already very disbelieving from the left, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the bankruptcy of the Soviet Union, the failure of the Eastern Europe. I lost my last illusions there, living in the belly of the beast, in the heart of capitalism.

I saw how it works. I saw the incomparable logic of that reality. That does not depend on political will, it does not depend on popular mobilization, it does not depend on mass awareness, it does not depend on social justice.

It is a job protection machine, well-being of income, freedom of constitutional guarantees, social justice. I am in favor of respect for contracts, social equality, many things that the left denies. ” Wow, what a change.

Chico Anysio, with his characteristic good humor, went straight to the point:
“I was a communist. After being a communist, I was a sympathizer of the Communist Party. I even gave money. Then I passed the leftist. Today I am realistic.”

Already Jorge Amado gave a moving testimonial: “To me, Stalin was my father. It was my father and my mother. To Zélia, the same thing. I knew that the socialist police tortured political prisoners as much as miserably the police of Hitler. The world fell over my head.

Opposition songs

So it is. And so, if we take the songs composed during the period of the military dictatorship and associate them with the current situation, for many conservatives, the message could fall like a glove. Just hear one of the songs, admittedly linked to the left, and see that it can be appropriate, curiously, on the opposite side:

“Tomorrow it will be another day.
Today you are the boss, said is spoken, there is no discussion, no.
My people are talking sideways and looking to the floor, see.
You invented this state, who invented inventing all darkness.
You who invented sin forgot to invent forgiveness. ”

Since life is made of round trip, of unpredictable timages, it is appropriate to store these messages. Certainly will come times when they will make sense again. Because the story, this stubborn, never stops turning. Follow by
