“The defenses of Finland is based on a general conscription, trained deposit and strong will to defend the country. By increasing the maximum age of midfielders, we give a larger number of people the opportunity to participate in the defense of the country,” said Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen.

Military service is mandatory for Finnish men from the age of 18, for women it is voluntary. Military training has already completed approximately 900,000 conscripts and remains part of the advance up to the age of 50, non -commissioned officers and officers up to 60 years.

The proposal of the defense department will be available to the public by the end of June, then the parliament will be submitted. According to him, the age should be increased over the next five years, as those who reach the current limit of 60 will be obliged to serve for another five years.
