GNR rescues three migrants in the Aegean Sea during Frontex Mission

Men were isolated in a small islet, situated to this one from Agathonisi Island in Greece

The Republican National Guard (GNR) rescued three at risk migrants on Saturday during a maritime patrolling action at the Aegean Sea, under the operation, coordinated by Frontex – European Border and Coastal Guard Agency.

In a statement, the GNR said the rescue occurred when the crew of the “Draco” coastal patrol vessel detected three men, aged 18 and 30, who were isolated in a small island, situated to the island of Agathonisi, Greece.

“The migrants were safely rescued, having undergone an assessment of their health status. Upon completion of screening procedures, they were transported to the island of Samos, where they were under the authorities of the Greek authorities,” is referred to in the note.

This rescue, in the context of the “Joint Operation Greece 2025” operation, is part of the GNR mission in the scope of safety and surveillance of the external borders of the European Union.
