The lockout of the train transport in the section of Poprad -Tatry – Vydrník for the damaged bridge in Poprad will last until Friday (May 16). The operation of one track is to be launched on Friday night. Both tracks will be fully in operation on Saturday (17 May) in the morning. TASR informed the spokeswoman of the Railways of the Slovak Republic (ŽSR) Petra Lániková.
The Slovak Road Administration (SSC), which is currently implementing the support of the bridge structure, has applied for a complete exclusion of rail transport until 5 pm. However, the exclusion of both tracks will run until the night. “It is necessary to perform other necessary operations by ŽSR for infrastructure safety,“Lániková explained that they would keep informed about further development and restoration of rail transport.
In the section Poprad -Tatry – Vydrník is interrupted from Wednesday (14 May) on the railway line. The reason is the static disturbance of the bridge over the railway on the I/18 road in Poprad. At night during the reconstruction work on the bridge, one of the beams, which the contractor was just removing from the bridge, cracked to replace them with new ones. In the section Poprad -Tatry – Spišská Nová Ves is currently provided replacement bus service.
