To form its list, Forbes monitored the earned income between May 1, 2024 and May 1, 2025, based on interviews with experts in the sector. The values reflect cash gains with salary, bonuses and some cases such as soccer players, the right of image or salaries subsidized by leagues and sponsors.
The magazine does not include investment revenues, such as interest or dividend payments, but considers payments from equity stakes sold by athletes.
