Speaking to the Ukrainian news agency “RBK-Ukraine”, Pontolian evaluated the peace talks: “If Putin doesn’t go, there will certainly be no negotiations.”
He noted that if the Russian president tries to avoid the meeting in Turkey, then Zelenski will be the one who decides whether or not the Ukrainian delegation in the negotiations will be involved. “But even if they are done (the negotiations), they certainly will not be at the presidential level,” he said. At the same time, he stressed that Zelenski could only meet Putin in the context of these negotiations: “So if we really want to come to some decisions, then Putin must be there.”
