Formed by experienced musicians from the local and national music scene, the band The Bubuias plunges into the rich Acre musical collection of the 80s and presents the show “FAMP 88: Canto in defense of the Forest – the festival, the album and the show“, A tribute to the historic edition of the festival that marked the union between art and environmental awareness. The premiere takes place, in Rio Branco, on May 16, at 7 pm, at the Sesc Arena Theater.

Composed by artists João Veras (flute and percussion), Carlos Estevão (guitar, keyboard and voice), Silvio Daisy (battery and percussion), Rafael de Castela (low and voice) and Ketlen See (guitar, guitar and voice), the band The Bubuias It emerged in 2024 with the mission of giving new life to the classics that marked the effervescent Acrean music from the 1980s, recreating the jewels of the repertoire of great artists from Acre.
By revisiting classics from the Acrean Popular Music Festival (FAMP), held between 1980 and 2013, The Bubuias navigates what some consider the golden age of state, a festival considered as a watershed in the construction of acrean music identity.
The band is now preparing to present the show “FAMP 88: The corner in defense of the forest“Reviding the remarkable 1988 edition of the festival. That edition stood out for its political and social relevance, aligned with the environmental movements of the time, being the first organized by the acre musicians and composers themselves, through its association, with institutional support from the then Cultural Foundation of Acre. This support resulted in the first recorded live, in vinyl, preserving the finalist songs, a record that became a record Cultural Heritage of Acrean Music, symbolizing the union between art and environmental awareness.

About the show
Presented by SESC-ACRE and sponsored by Group Following e Jackie Pinheiro Produçõesthe show will have its debut on May 16, at 19h, at the iconic Arena do Sesc Theater, bringing together the 13 tracks of the original album, as well as a bonus song of the final program. With narrative conducted by presenters, the show revives the story of the festival and the importance of its environmental message, through contemporary interpretations by the band The Bubuias. The project includes projections of historical images of the event and testimonials of artists who marked the 1988 edition.
