Ukrainian-Russian negotiations in Istanbul ended on Friday after about two hours. Referring to a source from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, AFP reported this, TASR writes. The Russian news agency TASS also reported on the end of the negotiations.
Reuters, referring to its source in the Ukrainian delegation, reported that Russia has submitted unacceptable requirements for Ukraine – among other things, to give up the territory that is still under the control of Kiev, and stopped fire. According to the cited source, the conditions submitted by Russia are unrealistic and far beyond all previously discussed requirements.
Reuters recalled that Russian and Ukrainian negotiators on Friday in Istanbul met at their first direct peace talks for more than three years of war in Ukraine under the pressure of US President Donald Trump to end this most tragic conflict in Europe since the end of World War II.
British BBC station, referring to a source in the Ukrainian delegation, wrote that Members of the Russian and Ukrainian delegation communicated through interpreters. Half of the Ukrainian delegation wore field military clothing and sat at the table directly opposite her Russian colleagues in suits, Reuters added.
The interviews were to start on Thursday. In the end, the delegations did not meet and after the negotiations of both parties with Turkish officials postponed them for Friday.
