The Acre Football Federation is among the 19 state entities that decided to break with the president away from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues. The group signed a manifesto in defense of changes in the entity and signaled support for the possible candidacy of Samir Xaud, leader of the Roraimense Football Federation (FRF), to take charge of the CBF. The information was released in a special article from the Estadão.
The movement gained strength on the night of Thursday (15), when the federations published the document alleging concern about the centralization of power and defending the “renewal of ideas and practices in the management of Brazilian football”.

At the age of 40, Samir Xaud was elected to preside over FRF from 2027, replacing his father, Zeca Xaud, who has been in front of the entity for almost four decades. Doctor with specialization in Sport Infectious Diseases and Medicine, Samir also acts as an entrepreneur in the business training business.
If he wins the election for the CBF presidency, Samir will not assume the command of the Roraima Federation. The national election will be for the quadrennium 2025–2029, and has no set date yet. CBF Vice President Fernando Sarney, current intervener appointed by the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJ-RJ), has up to 30 days to officially summon the election.

Despite the enthusiasm of state federations, Samir’s name faces resistance from some clubs, which point to Roraima’s little representation in the national sports scene. The FRF has only 10 members affiliated, and only Gas is in national competition this year, competing in Serie D of the Brazilian Championship.

On the other hand, state entities consider Samir’s young and technical profile as an important differential in the midst of an institutional crisis that requires structural changes. “The moment calls for renewal and professionalism. It’s time to make room for new leaders,” says an excerpt from the manifesto.
Other names, such as Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, from the Paulista Football Federation, are being considered, especially by clubs linked to the Forte União League. Ednaldo himself, now weakened, tries to reverse the judicial removal, but lost support from most of the federations – including Acre’s.
