Prohibitions include preferential care in hospitals and health facilities, priority in rows of public and private services and the use of reserved seats in public transport
A new bill, presented on Thursday (15) aims to penalize the use of hyperrealist dolls known as Reborn babies. These dolls, which mimic newborn, have been used by some adults to obtain benefits and priorities that are intended for lap children. The proposal, prepared by Federal Deputy Zacarias Calil, arises in response to the growing popularity of these dolls.
The legislative proposal establishes clear restrictions on the use of Reborn babies. Prohibitions include preferential care in hospitals and health facilities, priority in rows of public and private services, the use of reserved public transport seats and the obtaining of economic discounts or incentives for cervical babies.
The penalties provided for in the project range from five to 20 minimum wages, depending on the severity of the infraction and the advantage obtained. In cases of recurrence, the fine can be doubled. The rapporteur of the project argues that this practice impairs the functioning of public services: “It is conduct that, in addition to violating the objective good faith that should govern social and consumer relations (art. 4, III, of Law No. 8.078/1990), overloads public services, notably health units, delaying the care of children who effectively demand urgent care”.
There is still a long way until the proposal becomes law, as it needs to be debated and approved in both the House and Senate. If you receive the necessary approval, the text will be sent to the president’s sanction or veto. In social networks, there are records of adults using babies Reborn in medical consultations, although there are no concrete evidence that confirms the truth of these cases.
