Discovery: a simple method of lowering blood pressure without drugs

Scientists at the University of Surrey have found that regular consumption of tea, dark chocolate, apples and grapes can help reduce blood pressure.

According to Oxu.AZ, the research results were published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.

The effect is associated with flavan-3-oles-natural compounds found in cocoa, tea, fruits and berries. The analysis of 145 randomized studies has shown that flavan-3-oles can reduce blood pressure, especially for people with high values. In some cases, the effect was comparable to that of drugs.

In addition, the study found an improvement in the functioning of the endothelium – the inner layer of blood vessels, which plays an essential role in the health of the cardiovascular system. This improvement occurred independently of changes in blood pressure, indicating a wider beneficial effect.

The authors emphasize that flavan-3-oles do not replace medical treatments, but their moderate consumption, as part of a balanced diet, can be an additional method of maintaining health.
