Since the second half of 2024, Chinese customs have kept the state off the list of regions authorized to export the bird’s protein to the country, due to the focus of Newcastle disease detected in Anta Gorda
Even before confirmation of the first case, this Friday (16), of avian flu in a commercial farm in Rio Grande do Sul, the gaucho chicken exports for them had been suspended since July 2024. The reason were focused on Newcastle disease detected in gaucho birds. Rio Grande do Sul has since faced severe restrictions on international chicken meat trade. Since the second half of 2024, China’s General Customs Administration (GACC) has maintained the state off the list of regions authorized to export the bird’s protein to the country, due to the Newcastle focus detected in Anta fat (RS).
Although the focus was officially ended in late July, eight gauchos refrigerators are unable to access the Chinese market, the main destination for Brazilian chicken meat. Among the companies affected units of BRF, JBS, Aurora, Languiru, Minuano and Agrosul. Now, after the focus of Avian flu in Montenegro (RS), Rio Grande do Sul is forbidden to export chicken meat not only to China (which, incidentally, suspended 6 days the shipments throughout Brazil), but for any other country, for at least 60 days, said the minister of agriculture, Carlos Favaro, following, according to him, international toilets.
In this scenario, the poultry sector of Rio Grande do Sul sees the pressure increase. Although shipments prior to May 15 are maintained, as Fávaro reinforced, the state remains doubly prevented from accessing the Chinese market and, for now, other destinations.
