It informed the platform officials today on its preliminary view that the company does not fulfill the obligation of the Law on Digital Services (DSA) to publish a repository.
The Commission found that the Tiktok platform does not provide the necessary information about the content of the ads, the users to whom the ads are addressed and who paid for the ads.
In addition, according to the Commission, “the Tiktok advertising repository does not allow the public to search for ads in detail based on this information, thereby limiting the utility of the tool.”
The Commission’s report is based on research on the analysis of internal documents of the company, testing Tiktok tools and interviews with sector experts.
The Commission informs Tiktok of its preliminary report that it violates the law on digital services and the company now has the opportunity to exercise its defense rights by examining the documents contained in the Commission’s research file.
