Peonies in a vase – how to care for them?
For peonies in a vase to keep freshness for longer, it is important to choose the right flowers at the cut stage. It is best to cut peonies in the morning when they are still well hydrated. Choose buds that are already slightly swollen and begin to open, but are not yet fully developed. Avoid flowers with damaged or withered flakes. The vase is also important – it must be clean and disinfected after previous flowers. Bacteria in a dirty vase can speed up the process of rotting of the stems. Before putting the flowers in the vase, cut the stalks at a bevel, using a sharp knife or pruning shears. Thanks to this, you will increase the water absorption surface. Also remove the leaves below the water line – immersed in water will rot. Peonies feel best in cool and fresh water, so replace it every day. When exchanging water, also cut the stems. Do not overdo it with the amount of water in a vase – it should reach a maximum of 15 cm.

Also remember that peonies do not like direct sunlight and high temperatures, so set the vase in a shady place, away from heat sources. Do not put a vase with peonies also near ripening fruit. The ethylene secreted by them accelerates the process of wilting flowers. On hot days, gentle spraying of flowers with cool water can also help.
