The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), Carlos Fávaro, said on Thursday (15) that he expects to resume the within 60 days. In an interview with CNNFávaro pointed out that the Brazilian government is adopting strict measures to contain (IAAP) identified in a commercial farm in Montenegro (RS).
According to the minister, the state of emergency zoosanitary decreed by the government lasts 60 days, but the initial focus of the outbreak should be controlled within 28 days. “If we can eliminate focus and track production efficiently, we believe that it is possible to restore the normal flow of exports with China before this deadline,” explained Fávaro.
Economic impact and control measures
The temporary suspension of exports to China should cause a loss of more than US $ 100 million per month to Brazil. By 2024, the country exported $ 1.288 billion in meat and pissing birds to the Chinese market. The minister pointed out that while the Chinese embargo is national, other countries such as Japan, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have restricted only products from Rio Grande do Sul.

To contain the advancement of avian flu, all aviaries within 10 kilometers of the affected Granja will be inspected, and the eggs already distributed are being tracked and unusable. Fávaro stressed that chicken meat loads that are already in transit or awaiting release in the ports will not be impacted.
Risk to humans is low, says ministry
The Ministry of Agriculture clarified that the consumption of chicken meat and eggs has no risk to human health. Avian influenza virus transmission occurs only in situations of direct contact with infected, living or dead birds. “There is no commercial damage to the loads that were being produced and exported until yesterday,” said the minister.
Fávaro also pointed out that Brazil maintains more than 200 commercial partners for chicken meat export, which minimizes the economic impacts of the temporary suspension imposed by China. The country continues to negotiate the reopening of the Chinese market based on transparency and compliance with strict sanitary protocols.
