The Czech Republic is releasing measures: It will soon abolish the ban on imports of animals or feed from Slovakia and Hungary

The Czech Republic will abolish the ban on the import of animals susceptible to Slinta and the Boam (SLAK) from Slovakia and Hungary from Sunday (18 5.). This was decided by the State Veterinary Administration (SVS) of the Czech Republic, which will also abolish the ban on the import of hay, straw and green feed and releases the rules on the import of animal products. Spokesman Petr Vorlíček confirmed this on Friday.

The import of thermally unprocessed products of animal origin from Slovakia and Hungary, meat -and -a -fuel flies and rendering fats will return to the standard regime from Sunday. These products will no longer need a veterinary certificate. However, checks on the Slovak border and extraordinary measures for carriers and farmers in the Czech Republic remain in force.

According to Czech veterinarians, the situation develops favorably. They recalled that the last focus of SLAK was confirmed on April 17 in Hungary and 4 April in Slovakia. Currently, according to SVS, there is no indication that the condition should worsen.

“We continue to monitor the infection situation carefully, and we will respond immediately to any deterioration as before. We continue to maintain many extraordinary veterinary measures in order to protect Czech breeding from infection also monitoring on milk and game in border areas”Said SVS Director Zbyněk Semerad.

So far, 715 milk samples have been examined for the presence of SLAK virus, all of which were negative. According to the SV, the measures were released after a repeated meeting of the Czech Republic with Hungary and the European Commission.
