The City Hall of issued a statement this Friday (16) that mothers of (Hyper-realistic dolls imitating newborns) is not entitled to preferential seat to public transport. “Baby Reborn mothers are not entitled to the preferential bank,” the city wrote. “We understand attachment, but preferred banks are for priority audiences: obese, lap children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities and autistic spectrum. Reborn are cute, but they don’t guarantee place in the yellow, ok?” He added. The controversy reached the National Congress and motivated the elaboration of a new bill, presented in the House of Representatives on Thursday (15). The text, which will still be discussed by parliamentarians, provides for a fine of up to 20 minimum wages for those who try to achieve, using Reborn babies, any kind of benefit, priority or expected care for lap babies.
The São Paulo Municipal Camera was also presented a bill on the subject, but to specifically address the Unified Health System (SUS), prohibiting dolls are included in the care process. In Rio de Janeiro, a 2023 PL awaits sanction or veto by Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) for the creation of a “Reborn Stork Day”, in honor of the artisans who make the dolls. In recent weeks, videos published on Tiktok and Instagram with adults treating Reborn babies like real kids, scheduling medical appointments, bubbled, changing clothes, taking for a walk and even trying to wear preferential seats and queues, have viralized.
Heated discussions on the subject have dominated the internet in recent days. On the one hand, there are those who question the health of adults who supposedly have treated the dolls as “real” children. Others point to a supposed macho bias in the arguments. “I refuse to get into Baby Reborn’s agenda because, in my conception, if there is a 40 -year -old man wearing Superman T -shirt and collecting action figure, he’s more than released doll play,” wrote an X user.
