More than 40 leaders gathered at the European Political Community’s opening ceremony in Tirana on Friday, welcomed a short video showing each of them as a baby saying “Welcome to Albania” in his mother tongue. This content was created with the help of artificial intelligence.
The camera caught the Italian prime minister laughing from the heart, while Danish Prime Minister Methe Fredericksen smiled and looked at the screen with disbelief.
Some, however, seemed to have fun less. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan remained inexpressible throughout the film, only smiling when his own version appeared, a baby with a mustache.

During a speech after the screening, Meloni thanked Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama for the video and for the fact that “it made me feel very young again,” as he said.
The video could well be a spiritual child of Rama, who has gained the reputation of a peculiar personality. In the past he was a painter living in France and is known for his playful character.
The issues raised on Tirana, however, were anything but fun. European leaders, mostly Ukraine’s supporters, hope to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin with new sanctions as they begin.
