But then just a wetter climate or rain and its strength is there. “Most gardening equipment is made of iron that is very sensitive to moisture. Corrosion begins only when the air humidity exceeds 50 %,” says the expert, adding that the life of the metal tools depends on its proper storage and maintenance.

Disinfection as a prevention
The truth is that most spades, rakes or hoes will not avoid corrosion. But with the right care you can delay this “disintegration point” as much as possible, “says the expert, recommends that you wash and disinfected the tools after every gardening work. Tool cleansing is simple: just mix warm water with active chlorine (is part of conventional detergents) and immerse the tools in 10 minutes.
