The Meta-Facebook, Instagram and Threads Platforms-and Tiktok have removed fake publications on the official trip of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and the first lady Rosângela da Silva, Janja, Russia, at the request of Union Attorney General (AGU).
The posts misleading that from the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) and was arrested when arriving in the country, after the opening of one of the luggage by an agent.
“This is a misinformation content with the potential to vulnerate institutional stability and to compromise the integrity of public policies protected by the Union,” argued the AGU.

The removal of the contents occurred on Thursday, 15, after the AGU issued, the day before, extrajudicial notifications requiring the withdrawal of the content within 24 hours.
In the midst of the National Prosecutor’s Office of Democracy (PNDD) pointed out that the contents “falsely attribute to the first lady of Brazil, Janja, a member of the Brazilian entourage during the institutional trip, conduct of transportation of values in kind of illicit origin, associated with an alleged apprehension of the material, which would have led to diplomatic scandal with Russian authorities”.
In the notifications, forwarded from a request from the Presidency of the Republic’s Communication Secretariat (Secom-PR), the AGU included the links of the fake posts and stated that the permanence of these contents violates the own terms of use of the platforms, as well as a risk to the democratic order.

The AGU also stressed that “the messages have the ability to confuse the internal public on a relevant subject (diplomatic relations) and sensitive (official mission of the Brazilian state)”. For the agency, it is manifest misinformation, “devoid of any ballast or evidence, as they expose a manifestation on occurrences that do not match reality, with the effect of deceiving the public on public actions with a view to strengthening ties with other countries.”
