Cannes, France (Folhapress) – Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassouna, who died last month during an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip, was honored at a session of the movie “Put Your Soul on You Hand and Walk” at the Cannes Film Festival.

She is one of the main characters of the Iranian documentary Sepideh Farsi. In the movie, she details the bombing in the region and regrets that there were “different ways of dying in Gaza.” At the opening of the festival, actress Juliette Binoche, president of the jury, gave a speech to the victims of the conflict and in particular the Hassouna, who was invited to the event.

First times

“The President ‘S Cake” by director Hasan Hadi made history by becoming the first Iraq movie screened in Cannes. Out of competition, the feature portrays the scarcity of food that plagued the country in the 1990s, after sanctions from the United States, through the story of a girl who needs to make a cake for Saddam Hussein’s birthday.

At the same time, Egypt returns to Croisette after nine years to participate in the show a certain look, while “The Plague” marked the premiere of the United Arab Emirates in this circuit.

My piece of floor

Catalonia is occupying several fronts of the festival. Only in the Golden Palm race are Carla Simon’s “Romería” and “Sirat”, which despite being directed by Frenchman Oliver Laxe, has Catalan production. Out of competition, region producers played titles such as Filipino Lav Diaz’s “Magellan” and Guillermo Galoe’s “Sleepless City” and still occupy the film’s 70 representatives market.

Exposed truths

“The Six Billion Dollar Man”, a documentary about the life of Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, will make his debut in Cannes. Originally, the feature should have been released at the Sundance festival in the United States last year.

Assange, responsible for publicizing US government secret documents on human rights violations in Iraq and Afghanistan wars, is now in Australia after being guilty.

Great masters

Jackie Chan’s new movie, “The Shadows Edge,” was a sales success in the movie’s market. Buyers from around the world guaranteed distribution rights with Golden Network Asia.

He also weighed that the direction is by Larry Yang, a promising Chinese filmmaker. In the movie, Chan lives a retired agent who is co -opted by a team of young detectives to help capture a gang involved with high technology.
