The president of the Paulista Football Federation, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, announced on Saturday (17) that he will run for the presidency of the CBF.

The election to replace Ednaldo Rodrigues, dismissed by the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice on Thursday (15), will be held next Sunday, the 25th.

One of the possible candidates for the position is the president of the Roraimense Football Federation, Samir Xaud. But club leaders gathered in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday morning evaluate that he does not have sufficient support from state federations to secure victory.

The plates intended to run for office need to have the support of at least eight state federations and four clubs. Applications need to be registered until next Tuesday (20).

The votes have different weight in the election. The votes of the 27 federations have weight three; those of the 20 clubs in the series have two weight; Those of the 20 clubs in Serie B have weight one.

Ednaldo resorted to the Supreme Court on Friday (16) to try to reverse his removal.
