The average price of beef in Acre showed an increase of 2.93% between May 8 and 12, according to a survey of the Tutorial Education Program (PET Economics) of the Economics course at the Federal University of Acre (UFAC). The research was conducted in 50 commercial establishments, including butchers and supermarkets, in the cities of Rio Branco and Assis Brasil.

Among the cuts with the highest price variation is the diaper, which rose 4.88% in the period analyzed. Other significant increases were recorded on the bone shovel (4.72%), picanha (3.95%), needle (3.89%), fillet (3.53%) and soft coxsers (3.51%). The only fall observed was in the liver, with a decrease of 0.05%.
The study compared the prices practiced in different types of commerce and pointed out that butchers continue to offer the lowest values, even with a high average of 3.44%. In supermarkets, an average reduction of 2.68% was recorded, but prices are still, on average, 10.82% higher than in the butchers.
Some cuts presented significant price differences between the two types of establishment. The duckling, for example, costs an average of R $ 31.78 in butchers and R $ 39.11 in supermarkets. The Alcatra leaves for R $ 39.62 in the butchers, against R $ 48.04 in supermarkets. The soft cushion also has a remarkable difference: R $ 30.73 against R $ 32.74.
Among the municipalities surveyed, the largest variation was in muscle cut, which costs R $ 21.00 in Assis Brasil and R $ 26.61 in Rio Branco – a difference of 21.08%. Filet, bone shovel and needle also had relevant fluctuations between cities.
According to PET Economics, this type of survey is conducted regularly to offer useful information to consumers, promoting more conscious purchase decisions and encouraging transparency and competitiveness in the local market.
