The “Scientist returns to school” program is going through several schools in the country. Where scientists return to their former primary school to promote science in a fun way.
Paulo Marques was a student at the Valdonas Elementary School in the municipality of Tomar over 40 years ago. From an early age I knew that I wanted to dedicate your life to science. Now he returns to the school where he studied with the mission of inspiring and arousing the scientific curiosity of children.
“The only thing I try to do is that they are a little bit more curious about the world and never stop asking questions. That wonders why the sky is blue, because the sunset is red, because a tree has green leaves. If a person can always be questioning what surrounds us, makes us better people and people who can reinvent themselves throughout their lives,” engineer and scientist
The “Scientist returns to school” initiative wants to make science more accessible and close to new generations. A different class where students got to know the project that brought a robot to Mars and where they had the opportunity to build a remote robot.
This project runs through several schools in the country by joining children with professionals from different areas in their homeland.
This year, 100 Portuguese scientists have already returned to their schools. Because sometimes a meeting, a story, or an experience to arouse a child’s interest in the world of science.
