The Ukrainian military defense has counted throughout the more than three years of war, it would not be understood without the participation of some European countries, which have helped with numerous and novel defensive systems to Ukrainian troops. One of these countries has been the United Kingdom, who developed two Earth-Aire missile systems: Raven and Gravehawk.
Both are tremendously novel and even today, they can also be considered mysterious, given its complexity and secretism. However, both share certain characteristics. Mainly two: they use air-aire missiles-which are no longer in service in the British army- and were exclusively created for Ukrainian air defense.
But the two systems have some differences. On the one hand, Raven is a mobile air defense system that uses Air-Air Aim missiles: 132 Asraam, And it is known that the Ukrainian armed forces received this system in summer of 2023.
Ukraine has received a total of eight units of this systemwith which he has managed to demolish a total of 400 aerial objectives with a success rate of around 70%. And kyiv is expected to still receive five other units.
On the other hand, Gravehawk is an improvised system that uses R-73 missiles and is in a standard transport container. However, almost all the information about this system is unknown, since the little that exists was made public in early 2025, and Ukraine is still expected to receive another 15 units this year.
