Authorities studying the approval of a reality show where immigrants would compete for American citizenship, the DHS Department (DHS) confirmed on Friday. The president, who was once a reality show star, has the fight against illegal immigration as a priority of his second term. Wall Street Journal reported that Canadian American producer Rob Worsoff presented to DHS the project of a program in which immigrants would face in episodes one hour long to show who would be the most American. At the end of each episode, a participant would be eliminated.

“Each proposal goes through a strict selection process before it is approved or rejected,” said DHS. “We need to relive patriotism and civic duty in this country, and we are happy to analyze proposals outside the box.” Worsoff stressed the newspaper that the program intends to be positive. “It’s not ‘if you lose, we’ll send it on a boat out of the country.” Participants could compete to find gold in a mine or work as a team to set up a car’s chassis, the newspaper said. The program would start at Ellis Island, an island in front of Manhattan, in New York City, where millions of foreigners landed in the twentieth century.
