PLANT will be held on May 25 and candidates need to gather support from 8 state federations and 5 clubs to register plates
The (Brazilian Football Confederation) on Saturday night (17.MAI.2025) the rules for the election of its new president, scheduled for May 25. The regulation authorizes the remote participation of the voters and determines that the plates be registered until the 20th.
To register an application, formal support of 8 state federations and 5 clubs is required. The criterion is more rigid than that provided for in the annulled statute of 2022, which required 4 federations and 4 clubs.
Samir Xaud, president-elect of Roraimense Football Federation), officialized his candidacy on Sunday morning (18.MAI.2025), becoming the only postulant so far. He has the support of 25 state federations – only São Paulo and Mato Grosso did not join – and 10 clubs.
The configuration makes Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of (Paulista Football Federation), who, although supported by about 30 clubs, has not reached the minimum number of federations required.
With the registered plates, federations or clubs are not allowed to transfer your support. Thus, except for court decision, Xaud must be the only candidate in the election. He even suggested the change of the date of the election, which falls on a round of the Brazilian Championship, but the CBF chose to release the remote vote.
The Xaud plate has as vice presidents:
- Ednailson Leite Rozenha (Amazonian Federation)
- Fernando Sarney (intervener of the CBF and former FIFA)
- Flávio Zveiter (former president of STJD)
- Gustavo Henrique (former CBF director)
- José Vanildo da Silva (RN Federation)
- Michelle Ramalho (Paraibana Federation)
- Ricardo Gluck Paul (Paraense Federation)
- Rubens Renato Angelotti (Santa Catarina Federation)
In the CBF electoral system, the 27 state federations have weight 3 per vote; Serie A clubs, weight 2; and those in Series B, weight 1.
