The trafficker Marcos Roberto de Almeida, known as Tuta and appointed as the leader of the CCP, was sent on Sunday (18) to the Federal Penitentiary in Brasilia (PFBRA), a maximum security prison that aims to isolate criminal leaders and highly dangerous prisoners.
Arrested in Bolivia last Friday (16), Tuta was expelled from the country and delivered to the Brazilian Federal Police in Corumbá, border city in Mato Grosso do Sul, also this Sunday.
His transfer from Bolivia to Brasilia was made at a PF aircraft and was coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) and the Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRE). 50 members of the Federal Police participated in the operation, including 12 operators of the Tactical Operations Command (COT).
The escort of Tuta to the Federal Penitentiary in Brasilia had 18 men from the Federal Penal Police, in addition to the support of the Military and Civil Police of the Federal District.
Prison in Bolivia
In joint action with the Federal Police, agents of the Fuerza Special of Lucha against El Crime (Felcc) of Bolivia arrested Tuta on Friday night (16), in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Sentenced to 12 years in prison in Brazil for criminal organization crimes, money laundering and drug trafficking, he had been on Interpol’s red diffusion list since 2020.
The arrest occurred after the trafficker attended a Bolivian police unit to deal with migratory issues, presenting a false document on behalf of Maicon da Silva – whose information was already on the International Database.
The Bolivian agent called a Brazilian Federal Police officer who works in Santa Cruz de la Sierra who, in turn, sent the information to the Interpol Central in Brasilia. With the crossing of biometric data, Brazilian agents confirmed that it was a fugitive from justice.
From the confirmation of his true identity, he was arrested by the special force to fight organized crime in Bolivia (Felcc).
Criminal History and Function on the CCP
Marcos Roberto de Almeida had been on the run since 2021. He has been convicted in Brazil for over 12 years for several crimes, including criminal association and capital washing.
The São Paulo Public Prosecution Service (MP-SP) pointed to Tuta as responsible for moving about $ 1 billion for the criminal organization between 2018 and 2019. It is also indicated as one of the main articulators of an international money laundering scheme linked to the CCP.
According to MP-SP, Tuta succeeded Marcola as the main leadership and agent of the CCP. He was appointed as the main leadership of the faction outside the chains and kept direct contact with other arrested leaders, including Marcola. At Operation Sharks in 2020, the MP indicated that he was responsible for commanding the loose members of the criminal organization.
The investigation also pointed out that Tuta was suspected of being responsible for the escape plans of the CCP leaders reclined in federal prisons, and to lead plans to murder public agents and authorities in retaliation to transfers and actions against the organization’s summit.
