Drama at Eurovision: There was a meeting of propalestinian demonstrators with the police in Basel!

A group of propalestinian demonstrators on Saturday in Basel, Switzerland, came into a collision with the local police. Demonstrators disagree with the participation of Israel in the Eurovision 2025 song competition for its continuing offensive in the Gaza band, TASR writes according to DPA and AFP reports.

The police intervened against the demonstrators with tear gas and put a water cannon in the streets. According to the Swiss news agency Keystone-Ats, the struggle caused police intervention to prevent the conflict between protesters and two men waving Israeli flags.

Demonstrators in Basel chanted shouts “no music for murderers”, “Stop genocide” or “singing, while Gaza burns”. Some protesters in the streets burned Israeli or American flags and fired green and red smoke bombs.

The Israeli Security Council issued a warning for Israeli citizens in Basel before demonstrations and recommended them “Avoid confrontations and try to try in public spaces for the inconspicuousness of Israeli identifiers”.

Eurovision is an international competition of popular music in which artists within the European Broadcasting Network (EBU) are competing in live television. Each singer or group will show the three -minute song Ao the winner will decide the voices of national juries and spectators from all over the world. This year’s round is held in the multipurpose arena.
