A Lufthansa flight was about 10 minutes with no one in charge of the aircraft after an incident involving the two riders. The commander had left the cabin to go to the bathroom, and at this break the co -pilot suffered a sudden illness, leaving the plane on autopilot without direct human supervision.

The case took place on February 17, 2024, but was only released in a report by the Spanish Air Investigation Commission on May 15.
The LH77X flight took 205 people from Frankfurt, Germany, to Seville, Spain, when the commander left the cabin at 10:31. When trying to return, he could not unlock the door, even after several attempts with the password and the emergency code, CNN said.
According to the TV, a crewman also tried to contact the co -pilot, who did not respond.
Shortly thereafter, the co-pilot managed to open the door manually, showing obvious signs of malaise, such as pallor, excessive sweat and uncoordinated movements. The investigation revealed that he suffered an episode related to an previously identified medical condition, despite being up to date. After the incident, your medical certificate was suspended.
Also according to CNN, given the severity of the episode, the investigation committee recommended to the European Aviation Agency to revise the security protocols and make it mandatory the presence of two permitted persons in the command booth throughout the flight.
Lufthansa has not commented on the case so far.
