The president of the Roraimense Football Federation (FRF), Samir Xaud, must be the next head of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation). He was the first – and it must be the only one – to sign up for the dispute that takes place on the 25th, with the support of 25 federations and 10 clubs.
The massive support of the entities to Xaud makes the attempt of the president of the Paulista Futbeol Federation (FPF), Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, to apply for the post, since, by the entity’s rules, the endorsement of at least eight state federations is required for an avenge candidacy. As Xaud raised support of 25 of the 27 existing in the country-apas those of SP and MT did not support him-, reaching the number became impossible for any other interested in applying.
Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos had achieved the support of 32 clubs, compared to 10 who preferred Xaud, but in this case the regulation provides for a minimum support of only five associations, which, therefore, was obtained by both. Among the great of Brazilian football, Palmeiras, Botafogo, Vasco and Grêmio supported Roraimense.
The vote of each federations has three weight in the elections, against weight two of the 20 Serie A clubs and weight one of the 20 Serie B clubs. Federations therefore have 81 points, against 60 of the clubs.
The need to support a minimum number of federations often load candidates for the CBF presidency. The elections for the command of the entity have been a single candidate since 1989.
There are eight vice-presidents registered on the plate of Xaud, including Sarney Filho, intervener of the entity since the removal of Ednaldo Rodrigues, requested by himself to the court of Rio de Janeiro. The election takes place on May 25th.
Xaud, 41, is an infectologist, according to his Instagram profile. He was elected to the command of Roraima football recently, to the place of his own father, Zeca Xaud, president of the Roraimense entity since the 1980s. His mandate would begin in 2027.
