Entrepreneurs, lobbyists, government authorities, courts and regulatory agencies, governors, deputies and senators emptied Brasilia last week for a series of public events, dinners and private meetings in New York, in a script that became known as “Brazil Week”.
The proposal was to sell Brazil to foreign investors, authorities and entrepreneurs, although most events have mainly gathered only Brazilians. Companies such as Banco Safra, BTG Pactual, XP Investimentos and organized meetings between entrepreneurs and politicians.
These meetings, according to reports, were the opportunity for entrepreneurs with interests in legislative and regulatory measures to approach politicians with decision -making power and take their demands. It was also the chance for investors to contact authorities and discuss topics such as the interest rate level and what parliamentarians think about each sector’s projects.
Gerdau, for example, took advantage of a seminar that had her sponsor to complain about what she sees as slow from the Brazilian government to deal with the tariffs imposed by the United States and still demand measures against the “unfair competition” of Chinese products.
