The Ministry of Agriculture issued an official note on Sunday, 18, on actions against aviary flu in the country and to inform that “all measures provided for in the contingency plan are being carried out efficiently.”
“In the 10km radius area where the emergency declared (Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul), the properties of properties are underway and at a rapid pace. The perifocal area (3 km radius) has had 29 of the 30 rural properties, with expected to reach 100% until the end of today (18/05). Surveyed 238 of 510 properties ”, lists the ministry.
The portfolio also explains that, in the surveys in the perifocal and surveillance area, only a suspicion investigation has been opened, in a perifocal area and in subsistence property, “which receives all the attention and treatment of agricultural defense, but has no impact on international trade or the safety of inspected foods.”
“The samples collected in this investigation are in transit to the Federal Agricultural Defense Laboratory of São Paulo, in the municipality of Campinas (LFDA-SP) and will be processed tomorrow (19/05), with initial forecast of preliminary result for the end of the day, ‘explains the note.
The ministry reaffirms that on the focus property in Montenegro, all birds and their eggs have already been discarded and cleaning and disinfection of all facilities has been performed. “Additionally it is reported that the eggs, from the focus property, have been completely tracked and their destruction is underway, and then the process of cleaning and disinfection of the 3 incubatories.”
The Ministry of Agriculture also reports that there is an investigation in course of a property in the municipality of Aguiarnópolis, in Tocantins. But that the preliminary analysis showed the presence of influenza A, “with low probability of being a sample of high pathogenicity.” “Laboratory investigation is underway and the adopted traffic control measures, maintaining the situation under adequate control and surveillance.”

“The map, finally, clarifies that investigations of suspicions are routine in the activity of agricultural defense, and that in cases where emergencies are declared sensitized and the number of investigations tends to increase at first, which reinforces the robustness of the Brazilian Agricultural Defense System, which serves and treats all investigations with efficiency and transparency,” says the Ministry of Agriculture.
