Former president participates in video conferencing; The 1st Class began to hear the testimonies of defense and accusation of core 1 this Monday (19.mai)
The former president (PL) follows this Monday (19.MAI.2025) the testimonies of the witnesses of prosecution and defense of core 1 accused of attempted coup d’état in 2022-of which he is part. The 1st class of the Supreme Court (STF) began the hearing at 15h.
The hearings are performed by video conferencing and there will be no official transmission. The ministers Alexandre de Moraes, Cármen Lúcia, Cristiano Zanin, Luiz Fux and the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, participate in a remote way.
In all, 82 witnesses must be heard. Among the names are former commanders of the Armed Forces Marco Antonio Freire Gomes (Army) and Carlos de Almeida Baptista Júnior (Aeronautics), as well as the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans).
The press follows through a big screen installed in the 1st class room of the STF. But the journalists are prohibited from making any kind of recording.
Bolsonaro’s defense tried to postpone the statements, but Minister Alexandre de Moraes denied the request. They are part of the nucleus, besides the former president:
