Most of them are perennials, e.g. feathery or alpine clove. In Poland, 11 species grow in natural conditions. The best for growing in the garden and pot will be: feathery, alpine, bearded, dotted, blue, kartuzek and Chinese and garden. Cloves are not very demanding in cultivation, but to enjoy their beauty for longer, it is worth knowing the basic principles of cultivation.

Cloves will grow both on a sandy-glinic surface and on a caries soil with a neutral reaction. However, you need to put them on a salt position covered from the wind. Appropriate sunlight will make them abundantly and bloom for a long time. Also, it was not to forget about regular watering. Although they are able to survive a few days drought, it’s much better when the soil is slightly moist. From time to time, you can feed them with fertilizer for flowering plants. An important care procedure is tagging. If the plant does not release the side shoots in spring, it is worth to pick up the upper shoots. Then the cloves will bloom later, but they will spread beautifully. In turn, if we want the flowers to be larger, then we use such a procedure on side shoots. It is also worth taking off dry buds in their place on an ongoing basis, more flowers will appear. In late autumn, before the snow falls, it is worth sprinkled with dry leaves for many years. Cloves are also great as home or balcony flowers. They do not require much attention, and they bloom beautifully and smell. Care is not complicated. As in the case of cloves grown in the garden, it consists mainly of watering and covering withered flowers and leaves. The cloves will bloom on a sunny windowsill or balcony long and abundantly. It is important that they have a slightly moist substrate. That is why it is worth watering them three times a week, in the case of heat once a day – in the morning or sunset. In late autumn, flowers need to be moved to a cool room about 10-15 degrees C. In spring, the cloves with fresh soil.
Fertilizer for cloves
If we want the flowers to bloom abundantly, it is worth once every two weeks, water them with a conditioner. However, it should be remembered that in this case a fertilizer rich in nitrogen will not work. If we want to use buying fertilizers, humus will be appropriate. However, a home -made banana skin preparation will also work. Plants for flowering are needed by two important nutrients – phosphorus and potassium, which are found in the skin of these fruits. It is the phosphorus that makes the plants bloom abundantly, and potassium strengthens them and protects them from diseases. To make a fertilizer houses, just finely cut banana peel, put into a jar and pour hot water. Drain after 48 hours. It is worth watering the flowers twice a month with such a home fertilizer. The conditioner will also work for other pot and garden flowers. Importantly, the skins that have been made after the fertilizer can be crushed and mixed with water even more. Such a mixture will be a great conditioner for vegetables in the garden.
