Eurovision: Winner says he is proud to bring classical music to the contest

Austrian singer JJ, who won the 69th edition of Eurovision, said in Vienna on Monday (19) that he was grateful to have taken classical music to the “largest pop stage in the world”.

JJ, 24, is an Opera Singer Contractor whose winning song, “Wasted Love”, combined elements of opera, techno and acute soprano.

“I am so happy and so grateful to have had this unique experience, having managed to make Austria proud,” JJ said during a reception organized by Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker.

The brand the third time Austria has won the, after the success of Conchita Wurst in 2014 and the victory of Udo Jergens in 1966.
