Finland announced a new agreement on the supply of ammunition for Ukraine, which will be financed from the revenues of frozen Russian property on Monday. Referring to the Finnish Ministry of Defense, Reuters reported on Monday, TASR writes.
“Finland has been chosen as one of the states implementing the European Union measures for the supply of defense material to Ukraine using revenues from frozen Russian assets,” the ministry said in a statement.
Funds of EUR 90 million will be redirected through the European Peace Facility (EPF) and will be used to purchase ammunition from Finnish suppliers.
Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the negotiations: it was able to agree on further financing of Finnish support for Ukraine; The finances come from frozen Russian assets; And the products will be purchased from Finnish suppliers to support employment in Finland.
According to Minister Häkkänen, this step confirms the permanent commitment of Finland towards Ukraine. “Our support for Ukraine is strong and stable in other areas. This new package is complemented by our national support program of EUR 660 million and strengthens the link between the Finnish industry and the support of Ukraine. This is a great example of the Finnish defense sector and proof that investments in the ammunition capacity are paid.”
