In a second round or to elect a president. The second round will be held in 15 days, in June 2025. Polish voters are called upon to elect their next chairman between the Warsaw Mayor and European Rafal Traskovsky and nationalist historian Carol Navrotsky.

The rhetorical traskovsky

Warsaw Mayor Rafal Transkovsky, who came yesterday, Sunday, with a slight difference in the first round of the Polish presidential election, is a pro -European who promised to make the laws of abortion and guarantee the rights of the community.

It is credited with 31.2% of the votes, compared to 29.7% for 42 -year -old Carol Navrotsky, the candidate supported by the Conservative Law and Justice Party (PIS), according to a Ipsos Public Television poll for TVP public television for 90% of the vote. As neither of them has taken with the first attempt at the required absolute majority, a second round is necessary. The third comes Slavomir Menjen, a candidate for the far -right Confederation Party, with 14.8%.

A victory of 53 -year -old Rafal Trarsovsky, a convinced European, would end a difficult co -habitation and allow the government, which has been in power since December 2023, to make its pre -election promises.

With the support of Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s Central Coalition (KO), he will fight in the second round of the presidential election on June 1st, with Navrotsky, who is backed by the PIS of outgoing President Andrei Dunda.

Former Deputy Foreign Minister, Rafal Trarsovski, had lost his first race for the presidency against conservative Andrei Dundas in 2020.

Although the majority of the candidates supported the country’s military power, Rafal Trarsovschy made the government announcements that it would soon devote 5% of GDP to national security, compared to the 4.7% provided for this year.

On the international stage, he emphasizes the importance of the EU, while his opponent Carol Navrotsky mainly bets on the United States and NATO.

Who is Trarsovsky

The son of a Warsaw intellectual family, Trarsovsky is the son of a jazz pioneer in the 1950s, when this music was hated by the communist regime.

As the Berlin Wall was falling, he graduated from school and worked as a volunteer in the first Polish elections that exiled the end of the Communist era.

He received a degree in International Relations from the University of Warsaw and then a doctorate on EU reform. He also studied in Oxford, Paris and Europe’s College, near Warsaw.

A declared European, he speaks English, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish and had once worked as an English teacher.

In 2009 he was elected to the European Parliament and in 2013 he participated in the first government of Donald Tusk, before the latter became chairman of the European Council.

Rafal Traskovsky then took the position of technologies responsible for technologies and then became Deputy Foreign Minister, and in 2017 he was elected vice -president of the European People’s Party.

Mayor of Warsaw Trarsovsky was first elected in 2018 and re -elected in 2024.

Married and father of two children, she promised to defend women’s rights and legitimize abortion in this country in which the Catholics prevail and this process is almost forbidden. March said that he wants to work so that “this medieval law on the ban on abortion from becoming a thing of the past”.

The rhetoric of Navrotsky

42 -year -old Carol Navrotsky made an election campaign based on the slogan “first Poland, first the Poles”, targeting the European Union and the community of almost a million Ukrainian refugees living in the country and denouncing the generous benefits.

In his pre -election video, he stated that social benefits are “first intended for the Poles” and that “in the queues to doctors and hospitals” Polish citizens must “have a priority”.

He also accused Ukraine of “not grateful for what the Poles have done”, and its president, Volodimir Zelenski, for “self -sacrifice”.

The nationalist PIS, the main formation of the opposition and in power from 2015 to 2023, decided in November 2024 to support the candidacy of the historian.

Donald Trump’s fan, Navrotsky met him at the White House two weeks before the election. He claims that the US president said to him, “You will win.”

This meeting had triggered in Poland charges of involvement in the presidential election.

During the election campaign, Carol Navrotsky called for controls on the border with Germany to prevent the entry of immigrants, who were re -established, according to him, from this country, and requested to pay Berlin to Poland.

Fifteen days before the first round, his candidacy was shaken by a scandal.

During the television debate, which opposed the imposition of tax on real estate, he argued that he had only one apartment himself.

But shortly after the media, they revealed that he had acquired a second from an elderly man with a transaction that was characterized by observers and political opponents.
