The Brazilian Academy of Letters (), will hold the election for Chair No. 30 of the staff of the effective members, a vacancy open after the death of the academic and writer, former Buarque de Hollanda. The ceremony will take place on Thursday (22), at 16h, at Petit Trianon.
The election will be made with electronic ballot boxes, offered by the Rio de Janeiro Regional Electoral Court (TRE-RJ). If there is no need for second scrutiny, the process is expected to last about 30 minutes. Arlindo Miguel, Eduardo Baccarin Costa, Paulo Henriques Britto, Paulo Renato Ceratti, Salgado Maranhão and Spencer Hartmann Junior are registered.
Meet the candidates
- Paulo Henriques Britto He is a writer, translator and teacher of translation, literature and literary creation. He has published 14 books, including no mystery. He also translated over 120 books by English -speaking authors.
- Salgado Maranhão He is a journalist and composer, has 19 books published and has won the Jabuti Award twice, as well as having guaranteed the Pen Club and the poetry award of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. He is currently the only Brazilian poet with five books published in the United States.
- Arlindo Miguel He began his career as a writer in 2012, with the launch of defensive direction for pedestrians. Since then, he has launched five more books: Cai, Indiana – his people, his history, political illiteracy, my dumb and Indian friend for a rail.
- Eduardo Baccarin Costa He is a teacher, poet, writer and cultural producer. He has 16 books published in Brazil and a novel published in Argentina. The writer won the contest of the publisher Leia Books for four consecutive years, from 2018 to 2021
- Already Paulo Renato Ceratti He is a lawyer and published about three books on law.
- Spencer Hartmann Junior He holds a PhD in Neuropsychiatry from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a postdoctoral in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of São Paulo with five books published on the topics.
